On the morning of Saturday, 21, September, 2024 at exactly 5:30am, a tragic accident occurred on the Accra-Kumasi highway, resulting in the loss of 8 lives and leaving several others injured. The incident took place at Obretema, a town in the Suhum Municipality.
According to reports, a VIP bus with registration number GR 7632-24 was travelling from Tamale to Accra when it collided with a fuel tanker. The Impact caused both vehicles to somersaults, leading to a devastating scene.

Tragically, 7 men and 1 woman who were passengers on the VIP bus were killed instantly. The rest of the bus passengers were rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical treatment.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service and National Ambulance Service were quickly dispatched to the scene to assist with the rescue and evacuation efforts.
