NDC Protesters Burns NPP Campaign Materials In ReOccupy Julorbi House Demonstration – In a bold act of civil disobedience, Ghanaian protesters perceived to be aligned with the opposition NDC have set fire to New Patriotic Party (NPP) flags, billboards and other campaign materials during the #ReOccupy Julorbi House Demonstration which began today.
Supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) focused their anger on NPP flags, billboards and other campaign items at the busy 37 Roundabout in Accra.
The protesters, part of the #ReOccupy Julorbi House Demonstration, were driven by a single goal: to draw attention to the government’s perceived inaction on the devastating issue of illegal mining, popularly known as “Galamsey” that has ravaged Ghana’s natural resources.

Eyewitnesses reported that the NDC supporters, led by known activists, gathered at the strategic location and began systematically burning NPP flags and defacing billboards. One protester was even captured on camera using a stick to deface a giant billboard of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate. The chants and placards carried by the demonstrators made their grievances with the government’s handling of the galamsey crisis crystal clear.
Despite the police presence at the scene, who were tasked with maintaining order and preventing further destruction, no arrests were reported. The NPP is yet to issue an official response, though the party has previously defended its efforts to combat illegal mining as they have laid out initiatives like the establishment of a task officer to monitor and enforce mining regulations.
The #ReOccupy Julorbi House Demonstration main aim is to shine a spotlight on their grievances with the ruling party’s policies and performance. This powerful protest is a call for change that cannot be ignored!
