Kylian Mbappe Acquires Stake in German Electronics Firm Loewe, Eyes Expansion and Potential IPO

Kylian Mbappe Acquires Stake in German Electronics Firm Loewe

Kylian Mbappe acquires over 10% stake in German electronics firm Loewe, aiming to boost revenue and explore IPO opportunities through global expansion.

French football star Kylian Mbappe has taken a minority stake in German electronics firm Loewe Technology GmbH, marking a strategic investment aimed at boosting the company’s growth and paving the way for a potential initial public offering (IPO).

The 25-year-old Real Madrid player acquired more than 10% of Loewe through his investment firm, Coalition Capital, although the exact value of the transaction was not disclosed. This move follows Mbappe’s appointment as a brand ambassador for the company earlier in 2024, where he lent his image to promote its premium electronic products, particularly its high-end television sets.

Loewe’s Chief Executive Officer, Aslan Khabliev, shared the company’s plans to significantly increase annual revenue, with a target of reaching €300 million ($335 million) within the next few years, up from its current revenue of around €60 million. Expansion into North American and Asian markets will be a key focus in driving this growth, according to Khabliev. These efforts, coupled with Mbappe’s stake and brand alignment, could potentially set the stage for an IPO in the near future.

“We’re aiming for Loewe’s valuation to grow to approximately €500 million over the next five years,” said Khabliev. He likened the collaboration between Loewe and Mbappe to the successful partnership between tennis star Roger Federer and sports brand On, highlighting the potential synergy between high-profile athletes and global brands.

Mbappe’s involvement with Loewe follows his recent investment in Stade Malherbe Caen, a French second-division football club, which he purchased from Oaktree Capital Management earlier this year. Loewe hopes to leverage Mbappe’s massive social media following, which includes 122 million Instagram followers, to enhance brand visibility and reach.

“Kylian’s influence has been invaluable, particularly with a Bluetooth speaker we developed in collaboration with him,” Khabliev explained, adding that several of Mbappe’s French national team teammates have also endorsed the product on social media, further boosting its appeal.

As Loewe continues its ambitious expansion plans, the company looks to benefit not only from Mbappe’s financial investment but also from the marketing power of his global fan base.
